The bride, her husband and a handful of guests gathered at the home of a Viking couple in central Australia to be wed.
It was a modern-day ritual.
But in 2017, it became a viral story on Reddit, where it was picked up by the world’s biggest news organization, The Associated Press.
The wedding took place in the backyard of a house in Brisbane, and was captured on video by a local couple.
“This is my favourite thing ever,” said a young bride, wearing a red gown.
“It’s my favourite time of year.”
But it wasn’t the first time the wedding had caught the attention of the world.
In the past year, a wedding ceremony in the same backyard in Victoria was caught on camera.
“We’ve got a couple of girls that have come and said, ‘Oh, you guys are really making me happy.
Thank you guys,'” a bride’s mother said, according to ABC.
The couple’s family is happy to have the wedding on camera, but is also concerned about how it will be received.
“I want to see it as a celebration, but the wedding is very important,” the bride’s father said.
“As far as I’m concerned, it’s going to be a big disappointment.”
